		<description>I&#039;d just like to point out that, though the above article was reprinted (without prior permission) at a site that calls for &quot;the academic &amp; cultural boycott of Israel,&quot; I advocate no such thing. academic and cultural boycotts are exactly the last thing we need, and the last thing that should every be undertaken by anybody. I think there is good reason to boycott the economic, political, and military machine that makes the occupation possible, but absolutely not the culture and ideas that lend us the possibility of reconciliation. This is why I insist, above:

The goal of a nonviolent movement should be to enlist Israelis as partners in a just solution, making them see it as in their interest to do so.
