Submit your film to the Plural + youth video festival now!

If you are an aspiring young filmmaker interested in migration, human rights and activism, submit your work to Plural + Youth Video Festival today!

The Plural + Youth Video Festival, which is organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the International Organization for Migration, has announced that it is accepting entries until June 15.

“Recognizing youth as powerful agents of social change in a world often characterized by intolerance, and cultural and religious divisions,” the press release states, “PLURAL+ invites youth to address key challenges and opportunities related to social inclusion and cohesion, migrant integration, respect for identity, diversity and human rights, both at local and global levels. Young people aged 9-25 are invited to submit short videos of five minutes maximum in length for consideration in the PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival.”

There are dozens of organizations that offer a wide range of awards, which will be presented at the PLURAL + 2015 Awards Ceremony at the Paley Center for Media in New York City in December 2015.

We partnered with Plural + to give the first Waging Nonviolence Award in 2010. In the past, we have organized screenings for the films we award and aired their videos on our site. Our award last year was presented to Ahmad Albakri, a young Palestinian filmmaker, for “Borderless,” his beautiful video about the meaning of freedom (which can be viewed above).

Waging Nonviolence is looking forward to collaborating with Plural + again this year, so submit a video the tackles any of the issues that the festival addresses — with a particular focus on what young people can and are doing to effect change — before it’s too late!
