Customers getting cash out from one of the four major banks on Monday morning could find themselves faced with an unusual set of questions.
“Wreck the Great Barrier Reef for a new coal port?”
“Fuel dangerous climate change?
“Do the right thing and rule out investing in reef destruction?”
Climate change activists have stuck mock screens bearing the questions on hundreds of ATMs for the Commonwealth Bank, NAB, ANZ and Westpac.
The protest is part of a campaign by the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) urging the banks to divest from fossil fuels and rule out funding new coal ports at Abbot Point on the Great Barrier Reef.
