Flash mob to highlight senior abuse

Kristy Webber knows how vulnerable seniors are to abuse and she’s raising awareness with a flash mob in the Bayfield Mall next Saturday at noon.

As part of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day June 15,  the co-ordinator of the Prevention of Senior Abuse Network Simcoe County knows senior abuse is under-reported and the statistic of six to 10 per cent is set to grow, as the baby boomers age.

“We hope to challenge the common myths by showing seniors as being active and engaged,” said Webber.

Webber is using a rather unorthdox method to get that point across by asking activists the Raging Grannies to perform their version of the Beatles’ song “When I’m 64” at the mall.
