Experiments with Truth: Analysis

Is Gandhi’s dream of a peace army coming true?

The Gandhi Research Foundation hosted NP’s founder, Mel Duncan and Michael Nagler, President of the Metta Center at their centre in Jalgaon, India to give a number of presentations to commemorate Gandhi’s birthday (see Mel’s presentations).  Michael, a scholar on nonviolence, is one of the people who played a major role in shaping and advising NP.

Mel described how NP’s unarmed civilian peacekeepers are living Gandhi’s concept of the Shanti Sena (Peace Army),  “As we celebrate Gandhi’s birthday, let us remember that he is being reborn everyday in the courageous work of nonviolent peacekeepers throughout the world.”

He reminded people that Ela Gandhi, the Mahatma’s granddaughter had closed NP’s convening event eleven years ago by saying “My grandfather would be very happy today.”
