Turks stage subway ‘kiss-in’

In many places, a kiss is an act of affection, but in Turkey, it has become a sign of protest. On Saturday, demonstrators publicly kissed at an Ankara subway station in response to one couple’s alleged defiance against the country’s morality rules. In addition to kissing, around 100 people protested by chanting and carrying signs that read “Free Kisses”.
Turkish media reported last week that a couple was asked “to act in accordance with moral rules” after subway security cameras caught them kissing. One lawmaker questioned whether the subway officials should have been allowed to enforce such rules.
