Since the late 2000s, FOR has supported projects focused on partnership between Afghan peacemakers and international allies. The following two initiatives, fiscally sponsored by FOR-USA, have sought to continue those sensitive relationships.
Global Days of Listening, or GDoL, an FOR chapter, has worked in support of Afghans for more than a dozen years. Even now, it continues to coordinate a Safety Fund to help provide food, water, and safe shelter to our Afghan friends based in Kabul. Over the past year, modest funds have been raised and delivered. Afghan Generations is a new multinational initiative working in partnership with the Chicago FOR chapter. In early 2022, international solidarity workers first sought to assist a group of progressive Afghan activists who were urgently seeking to emigrate from their homeland. Afghan Generations now seeks (tax-deductible) financial help for another group seeking to migrate. Checks can be made payable to the Fellowship of Reconciliation, with “Afghan Generations Leiria Project” (or “AG Leiria Project”) written in the memo.
