Ramadan, Easter, Passover initiative

To mark the overlapping holidays, FOR shared moving reflections on peace and justice from the three monotheistic faith traditions.

This past spring, FOR helped mark a rare interfaith moment in which the great festivals of the three monotheistic faith traditions overlapped. During the first week of April 2023, Muslims were midway through their month-long fast in honor of the sending of the Qur’an, Christians were commemorating Holy Week, and Jews were celebrating their liberation from bondage. As the oldest interfaith peace organization in the country, FOR saw the moment as an opportunity to address our deepest concerns about the soul of our nation in light of the Christian nationalism that has been gaining prominence. With “Ramadan, Easter, Passover 2023 – Purify, Redeem & Liberate the American Soul,” FOR shared moving reflections on peace and justice from each faith tradition, including Dr. Sohaib Sultan’s prayer for Palestine, Rev. Graylan Hagler’s thoughts on Palm Sunday, and Rabbi Brant Rosen’s reflections on Passover.
