Plural + youth video festival now calling for entries

The Plural + Youth Video Festival, which is organized by the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the International Organization for Migration, has announced that it is accepting entries until June 27.

“Recognizing youth as powerful agents of social change in a world often characterized by intolerance, and cultural and religious divisions,” the press release explains, “PLURAL+ invites youth to address key challenges and opportunities related to social inclusion and cohesion, migrant integration, respect for identity, diversity, and human rights, both at local and global levels. Young people up to 25 years old are invited to submit short videos of five minutes maximum in length.”

There are dozens of organizations that offer a wide range of awards, which will be presented at the PLURAL + 2014 Awards Ceremony at the Paley Center for Media in New York City in December 2014.

We partnered with Plural + to give the first Waging Nonviolence Award in 2010. Our last award was presented to a wonderful film — which can be viewed above — by Samantha Highsmith & Gabriella Huggins called “Even Handed” about the struggle for LGBT rights and the power of activism.

Waging Nonviolence is looking forward to collaborating with Plural + again this year, so submit a video the tackles any of the issues that the festival addresses, with a particular focus on what young people can and are doing to effect change before it’s too late!
